Gary played his first pickleball game at a family reunion in 2010. He has been playing, teaching, and helping grow the game ever since.
His focus on group training new pickleball players includes 3 basic skills including dinking, volleys, and serves. Students can be playing pickleball games during their first lesson. Subsequent sessions focus on scorekeeping, stroke improvement, and game-play tactics.
For private lessons, Gary uses a skill review process to focus on those areas that provide a pickleball player with a quicker improvement in weaker skills while improving the consistency of stronger pickleball skills.
His ability to quickly detect stroke and footwork issues also provides players with guidance on how to improve their overall game more efficiently and effectively.
For intermediate players looking to be more competitive in their age group, Gary combines stroke development with a strong focus on serving skills and shot location.
Gary also suggests bringing together your own group for drills and game play instruction. Since pickleball is such a social game, learning and playing with friends and neighbors adds more value to the experience.
If you want to create a social event for your neighborhood, club, sports team(s), or other organizations, Gary has developed a quick-teaching model that gets brand new players started quickly.
He is International Pickleball Teaching Professional (ITPTA) trained and a trained pickleball referee.
His pickleball rating (DUPR 3.75) provides assurances that Gary knows the game and has the skills and experience to quickly improve the games of new and intermediate players.
